Our wedding officiants are experienced Ministers who perform numerous inmate marriages every month and are very familiar with the marriage process when an inmate is involved.
Following is the step-by-step process:
1. When needed, we will help you get the approval to marry in the facility where the inmate is located (marriages in Los Angeles County require prior approval from the Sheriff legal department).
2. We will send our mobile notary public to visit the inmate and have him sign the marriage paperwork.
3. Our wedding officiant/minister will meet with you (the non-incarcerated person) at the Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk office to buy the marriage license. According to County Recorder regulation, when there is an inmate involved, the minister must be present when getting a marriage license. You will leave the place with your marriage license in hand.
4. The wedding officiant will meet with you at the facility to officiate your marriage during regular visiting hours.
5. After the ceremony, our minister will file the marriage license with the County Recorder, so your marriage can be recorded.
6. You will receive your marriage certificate within 3 to 10 weeks depending on the county where you got your marriage license.
In order to obtain a marriage license from the Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk office when an inmate is involved, a valid acceptable identification must be presented to the County Clerk for both the bride and the groom. If the inmate does not have an ID, please contact us to discuss other options. Below is a list of acceptable IDs:
· Passport from any country
· Driver licenses/State IDs from any State or any Country
· International Driver License
· Matricula Consular with birth certificate translated in English
· Resident alien card (green card)
